Captain Radhika Menon has made the country proud as she is the first woman to be conferred the prestigious bravery award by International Maritime Organisation for 2016. Radhika had assisted in bravely rescuing 7 fishermen from a sinking vessel, thereby saving them from the jaws of death in the Bay of Bengal in 2015. The IMO is a part of the UN that looks into the safety and security of shipping.
