US tech major IBM has discovered a methodology to convert toxic old smartphones into medical-grade plastic. The recycling process, uses chemicals to turn polycarbonates used in smartphones & CDs into a nontoxic plastic, that is safe and strong for medical use. Scientists are combining experts in informatics and polymers for the study, which a researcher says is an environmental win on many fronts.
